Nicole Richie's Wedding Dress

(Well one of them at least!)
In case you didn't know Nicole Richie married Joel Madden this past Saturday! I found this picture of her in one of her wedding dresses (there were three!)

This dress is designed by Marchesa and it is gorgeous! Marchesa has definitely been in the fashion news more and they showed an amazing collection for s/s 2011, they are a huge designer to look out for.

I really like this dress because it changed my mind about white lace. Lace I always find is tricky, only certain people can pull it off. Black lace to me, is sexy almost lingerie-ish so it's more a night time or going out look. White lace to me leans on Madonna 80s look, as if you only needed a string of pearls and some cut off gloves to be her. This dress though, just made me ooooh and awe. I love the lace and the long sleeves! A lot of wedding designers are leaning away from strapless dresses because they are bored of it (aka Vera Wang) with Kate Middleton's wedding, the predictions are that she would go for lace and long sleeve, so it's kinda cool to see that connection right here. The fullness of the bottom I find is on the right side of theatrical; that it works. This is really elegant dress it worked perfectly for her. Nicole Richie is increasingly becoming a style icon, I think this is just one more positive point to her. I love the hair and makeup too!

Anyways this blog was not super important, just wanted to share a gorgeous dress with you!

Review: Aussie's 3 Minute Miracle

I first heard about this product from a beauty you tuber that I watch all the time (allthatglitters21) and she said that it's the perfect conditioning treatment for your hair. I was intrigued, so while visiting my mom we went to ULTA and I bought the treatment for her for her birthday. Since she's my mom and she's lovely, she let me use it a couple of times. It really is amazing! That was this past summer.
So when winter rolled around and my hair started frizzing out of control, I was desperate for a deep conditioner. Finally I found the 3 minute miracle at my school's drug store and bought it immediately! I bought it for 4.99 and I've never seen it listed for more than that. But! I haven't been able to find it easily, it's not at shoppers and ULTA is not in Canada. This really is the perfect remedy to dried out winter hair, so when you find it, buy it!
How it works is when you're showering you work the product into the hair, I tend to focus on the ends because that's where it's driest. Then you can either wait 3 minutes, or just continue with the rest of your bathing; wash your face, etc. Then you rinse out the product first with warm water then with cold water to seal the moisture in the cuticles. You'll feel a difference as soon as you towel dry your hair. Awesome product, definitely one to purchase and repurchase.

5 things to be Thankful for this Winter

After being snowed in for a number of days, there are definitely a few things that I have so happy to have!

1. Sorels
Now this is not the exact pair I own, but I'm sure you get the point. All throughout high school I struggled with boots, none were fashionable or kept your feet warm enough or kept the water out. Sorels do everything! My feet have never been cold or wet in these things! Now when I first got them I was skeptical about their look, but I love them so much and they've actually become super popular this year! I'm sure that these will be the new uggs, at least for those that deal with a real winter season.

2. Fuzzy Socks

Oh gosh, I live in these! I hate when your toes get so cold it feels like they just may fall off. These socks keep your feet so warm and cozy, definitely go buy five pairs if you haven't already.

3. Tea

Well this is a no-brainer, I'm obsessed with tea. But one thing that I don't like about summer is that you can never really enjoy a nice hot cup of tea, you'll just end up a hot mess afterwards. My marks and spencer's tea is running low and this a huge cause for alarm! It's a tea from the UK that is honestly the best tea ever, so delicious! I'm also loving earl grey with vanilla and MOJITO tea! Yes, its true your favourite summer cocktail is now in tea form. :) enjoy!

4. Fur trapper hats

Where I am, it's been snowing like crazy and now it's freezing rain. For those of us that straighten their hair, this is a clear issue. Fur Trapper hats keep your entire head dry and your hair straight! Lifesaver.

5. Parties

An excuse to wear those rich lovely colours and look amazing! Also another reason that gets my butt to the gym.

Review: OPI's "Glitzerland"

As promised here is another colour from the the Swiss collection launched in early fall. As you guys know already this is my favourite collection by OPI to date. This colour is beautiful soft gold with a subtle glitter. I think that this one is perfect for the holiday season! Yes, of course everyone will go for that rich red (I have one too so I'm guilty too) but gold is unexpected even though it's a traditional holiday colour. Love love love this! Again the quality of OPI is there and it only takes 2 coats to get a full colour. Definitely purchase this if you have a ton of parties to go!

One combo I really like is a rich red on your toes and this gold on your fingers, it looks marvelous!

Review: OPI's "Cuckoo for this colour"

Let me start off by saying that I am absolutely in love with this collection from OPI, this colour is from OPI's Swiss collection. There is a huge variety of colours in it, it fits the niche of fall/winter colours marvelously! Least to say this one is the only full bottle that I own from this collection, but I have the other ones in smaller forms so be prepared to see those later!
This picture doesn't do the polish justice, but "Cuckoo for this color" is dark forest green with a bit of shimmer to it with hints of blue. It looks black in the photo but you can always tell in person that the colour is green, trust me I hate black nail polish so I won't paint my nails anything close to black. The polish only needs about 2 coats, but I applied three in this picture. It dries smoothly so long as you don't touch it! It doesn't really chip which a quality that I find is universal with OPI colours, you're really paying for the quality and it shows. If you love green and you love the dark rich winter-y colour definitely pick this one up! Or any other of the Swiss collection! This one is definitely one of my favorites. I'll post a full entry on the collection later.

Red Hot Blush

If you read my blog regularly or if you know me personally, you will know that I'm absolutely obessed with MAC! I love it! The worst thing for me now is that I am banned from purchasing any more makeup until Christmas, which is hard for me. Before the ban however, I was allowed to make one last purchase so I could get a glimpse of the new tartan collection from MAC (which is to die for btw).
In the winter one makeup product that I cannot live without is blush, besides the fact that I'm ghostly pale; I love the look of blush in the winter. I love how it adds to "I've been walking in the snow all day long, I'm so relieved to be indoors" image. So I bought "Frankly Scarlet" from the collection. It's hot red pink that has hues of blue in it. Don't let the blue hue throw you off, it's actually a new trend that I'm noticing more and more. Blue adds more depth to your skin tone and once you try it, it's hard to resist.
This blush looks really good as long as you don't cake it on, I usually wipe a bit on my hands first then sweep it gently on my apples to my temples (wind blown look) using a fluffy blush brush. It definitely took trial and error to get used to this one so just be aware. I would recommend this blush because it's a perfect hue for winter, the name is fun and the colour is absolutely lovely. :)
This picture doesn't really do the colour justice, so I recommend looking at it in stores.

Pink Friday Lipstick

Nicki Minaj's new album "Pink Friday" debuted this week but something else super cool came out too! To celebrate MAC released a new lipstick called "Pink Friday" in honor of Nick Minaj. It's a really creamy pink, it looks like the signature colour that she always wears. Considering I love Nicki Minaj I just may go out and purchase the colour, but it looks like it would be super hard to pull off, so I'm hesitating a little bit. Another neat feature about this lipstick is that it's only available for four Fridays starting this Friday November 26! Get it, Pink Friday on Friday? I thought that was quite clever. Let me know what you think! Purchase worthy or pass?

Post-Hogwarts

After seeing the new Harry Potter this weekend, I can hardly think of anything else! When the first one came out (philosopher's stone) I never really thought much of Emma Watson, I was pulled more towards Luna Lovegood as an inspirational character but after seeing Deathly Hallows, I have to change my mind. I am totally in love with Emma Watson, I love her look! I was reading in an interview with her that uses fashion as a rebellion because from playing Hermoine Grainger she was never allowed to looked glamorous, but now she can. The first move was definitely chopping off all her hair!

When reading through various fashion sites, I found this article about Emma Watson debuting a Burberry trench that was made just for her, least to say it's to die for. I absolutely love this shot and wanted to share it with all you so we can mutually drool over it. Enjoy!
On another note, I love her poppy! I'm assuming it's the British version, not too sure why they look different then the ones here but I love it none the less!

End of Fall!

Yes, It's getting to the end of fall and I'm a little sad! I find so much inspiration in the fall, with the weather and the colours of the leaves, just everything around me! I do love winter as well, but fall has a lot more to offer, it's more rich and romantic.

I made this set because often times in the fall, I don't feel paricularly galmourous, so I wanted to change that! This outfit idea came to me because I'm dying for a white dress and I thought of how I would wear it, I absolutely love this outfit. Cranberry red and white are one of my favourite colour combinations. I love mixing up what's traditionally glamourous with a more rugged piece, like the dress which dainty, with a toque, I live for those pairings! I love the nail polish as well, I almost bought that one but found that it was simliar to OPI Ink (which I have), but now I'm thinking I may have to go purchase it so I can make this outfit on my own. Enjoy!

It's Been far too long!

SORRY SORRY SORRY! Words cannot express how much I have missed this blog! But I have been so busy from getting back to normal from Ireland, to working everyday and being away every weekend I just haven't found anytime to write so I'm so sorry, I think that my writing will get back to normal once I head back to school which is in September so for now it's just going to odd times unfortunately.
Anyways a quick review!
When I was in Ireland I saw that they were giving away some Benefit eye pencils in magazines, and these magazines only cost 2 pounds! Now that's about 3 Canadian dollars which is still insane because these pencils are close to 30 dollars each. I got all three which include "eye bright", "bad gal black liner" and the "it stick". The first one that I'm going to review is the concealer stick called "It stick". At first I wasn't super keen on this as I'm in love with the concealer that I have. I tried it at first in combination with the concealer that I already own, and then I started using the It stick more then my liquid concealer. I think the perfect use for this is in your purse to touch up your foundation when need be, that's when it works best. When it's just on it's own I found it didn't make a world of difference but when in combination with other concealers it works wonders. Definitely get this if you can get a good deal on it, otherwise I wouldn't recommend it as a must-have

How to: Define your eyebrows

Before ^
After ^

Not a regularly discussed subject but I really think that this is important, it can really enhance your look or just change it up every once in a while if that's what you would rather. I once heard a saying (from a different beauty vlogger) that if your eyes are the picture, then your eyebrows are the frame.

Start off by using an eyelash brush just to brush out your brows. Now use some coloured pencil or powder that will darken your brows. I use an eyebrow pencil from MAC called impeccable brow pencil in "taupe" do just short strokes along your natural brow so where the hair is. Once you get better at it you can create an arch even though you may not have one. I suggest starting off realy lightly and then once you get more comfortable try to make them darker until you find a style that you like. Now you seal the look with brow gel, I use clear mascara which works just as well but there are coloured brow gels out there, I just haven't used it before. Apply it at the bottom of the brow closest to your face then wiggle the wand upwards, you don't need to use much. Brush it all along the rest of the brow with an eyelash and you should be set!

Try it out!

Basic Bronzer

As summer is coming on full blast I'm finding that blush is becoming less of a daily staple in my routine and bronzer is better. I used to use Bare Minerals "warmth" but it's super dark and doesn't have much dimension to it, so I switched over to Physician's Formula Bronzer in Bamboo Wear. I really like that one, it's nice and shimmery and isn't too dark but that brush that comes with it is bad, it sheds everywhere so be forewarned! Don't be too afraid to try a slightly darker shade than what you would go for because you can always apply it very softly, I find that light bronzers don't really do much.
Start off by applying the bronzer to the apples of your cheeks spreading up towards your temples. If you don't like that look and like more of a contour; go just below your apples and apply upwards. This part you want it just a hint darker then the rest of your application.
After that, sweep it across your forehead, down your nose, along your chin and the rest of your cheeks. This part of the application is lighter, it's mostly meant to blend the colour out and so your cheeks aren't so stark, I woudn't even put more bronzer on the brush after you've done your cheeks. One must is to make sure you blend your bronzer in your neck! This creates a more seamless look and doesn't make it so obvious that you're wearing bronzer.

If you don't like a shimmery bronzer I suggest using Benefit's Hoola Bronzer, I haven't actually tried that one out but I've heard that it's a really good matte bronzer.
Enjoy!

Review: OPI's "What's with the Cattitude?"

I believe that I mentioned before how much I wanted this colour. I had been hearing reviews about it for months and months and I started obsessing over where I could find it. I tried every store that sold OPI, I tried to order it online (only to find stores that wouldn't ship to Canada) when finally my mom bought it for me and shipped to me. That's how much this obsession took over my life (ahaha). (sorry for the non-white background btw :( I'll get it back soon). This colour is actually part of the Shrek collection that OPI had launched earlier this year, which I suppose this one is meant to be inspired by Puss in Boots. OPI describes it as "a moody blue that's really a pussycat.", it's a little cheesy but I love the name, I love everything about this colour. This bottle applies pretty well and only takes about 2-3 coats. One thing that was a wee bit annoying was that it chipped pretty easily :( but that could be due to that fact that my nails were quite long this week and I wasn't taking great care of them (during my trip and what not) so I wouldn't necessarily blame that on the polish, more just on my carelessness. It did bubble a wee bit but not enough to get really annoyed over. I have to say that this is definitely one of my top favourites, I always love blue nail polish but I always find that the hue is a little off, this one was just perfect, love it love it love it. :)
100% a total 10/10

A Blessing in Disguise

As I had mentioned in my last post, the newest cleanser that I had used really did heavy damage to my face. Seriously, one of the worst breakouts I think I have ever experienced in my life! But this did lead to one nice discovery, I was super desperate to find anything that would cover up my hideous blemishes I had read/heard about using eye drops to cover up any redness but every other time I was too nervous to try it, but this called for desperate measures. I bought the cheapest brand of eye drops called "clear eyes" in the one that just read 'reduces redness' after all I wasn't treating allergies or anything. What I did was just put a few drops on a q-tip and then dabbed into the problem spot. I applied it pretty liberally because as I said before I was super desperate. I put the drops on after my moisturizer and before my concealer, then just wait for it to dry before applying your foundation. I have to say that these eye drops really does do wonders! I was so impressed! It takes away the redness but also dries out the blemish, so this almost cures it and gets rid of it faster then if you had just left it with makeup. This seriously saved my life, one of the best beauty tips I think that I have ever tried and I have really sensitive skin so it was really amazing that it worked. Definitely try it if you are ever in the same situation as I was!

Hopefully this is helpful! :D

Review: L'oreal's 360 Go Clean Cleanser

Sorry for the lack of posts lately, I've been in Ireland and haven't had much access to the internet, so the posts for a while are going to be a little irregular until I get home. :)

I got this cleanser as a gift from someone so I kept it around until I ran out of my regular one. I was super skeptical about trying this just because my skin is so sensitive and it doesn't end too well when I decide to switch things up. After about a week this cleanser seemed alright meaning I didn't have any breakouts and I didn't really notice any difference. The cleanser does sting a bit (I used the cream cleanser) and one time I got it stuck up my nose (ahahha) and it really hurt for about a day. I was too nervous to put it near my eyes so I can't really say how well it removed my makeup or anything like that. After about two weeks of using this I got huge welts on my face which really hurt. I have never had anything happen like this before! Painful bumps on my face! I stopped using it immediately and it took about two weeks for my skin to fully recover. I talked to the person that had gave me the cleanser and they said that the same thing had happened to them! Overall this product was not worth it, I would sincerely give it 1/10. I was super excited to try it because of the unique scrublet idea, but never again will I use this product.

Review: Essie's Lilacism

I had mentioned this nail polish before in my May favourites entry, but I thought it deserves a full review! I had got this colour in May originally and I was totally obsessed with it but I'm starting to get over my obsession ahaha. This colour applies so smoothly and has an awesome shine to it, one word of warning you really have to make sure that it dries completely otherwise once it gets messed up, it's almost impossible to fix. The colour actually makes me think of spring more than summer but it looks really nice with a little sun kissed skin. My nails were really short this week (as mentioned before) so this colour looked really nice on my nails even though they were so wrecked, you could not tell. I'm super impressed with this one, it stayed on for just about the whole week (only one chip! hooray!) and the only reason that I would change it is just because I got bored of the colour.
It took about 3 coats to get the colour that I wanted.
I would give this about 9/10 I was REALLY impressed with this one. :)

Celebrity Inspired: Whitney Port

First off for makeup, she's kept it super natural and simple. I did a thick top liquid eyeliner, attempting to mimic what she's done. Then I used a skin tone pigment called "jardin aires" by MAC. Using a loose brush I swept it all along my lid up to my brow. On the crease I used the smallest amount of brown (MAC pigment "Museum Bronze") blend that in with the skin tone colour. Finish off with black mascara, in the picture it doesn't look like she's wearing a lot of mascara but I can't imagine someone not wearing it (haha) so I kept in. For the face I used a lot of bronzer, just because I'm horribly untanned. Then just on the apples of your cheeks use a coral tone blush (I used MAC's ombre blush in "ripe peach"). Complete it with a netural/pink lipgloss. For the hair, (even though I didn't do that portion) I would just do loose curls with a large barrel curling iron only paying attention to the lower half of your hair. (probably about 2" if your hair is long, do down to about 1.5" if not.) Then just run your fingers through the curls and that should do it!
I totally realize that I look way more made up then she does, I just like wearing more makeup, I have horrible lighting/camera and I'm not a professional.

Product information: Watch; asos.com, Dress; janenorman.co.uk, Clutch; asos.com, Bangles; canada.forver21.com, Shoes; dorothyperkins.com, Eyeshadow; smashbox.com.

For the outfit, I tried to get as close as possible! I chose this dress because it's a yellow detailed dress like hers, but I like the different neckline and the bubble shape (as opposed to hers which is just straight which is a hard shape to pull off, kudos to her!). I really like that she paired an ankle bootie (ish) with this dress, it looks so nice and sophosicated I found. I tried to stay within the same colour palette which is why I picked a grey shoe because it picks up on the grey tone that I don't have in the dress that I picked. Her clutch in the photo looks like its orange and silver, I couldn't find a clutch with that so I chose a sweet pink, which kinda lost its colour in the photo :(. Her watch (I assume it's a watch, right wrist) is a pink so I feel the clutch kinda makes up for that. The watch that I chose is Marc by Marc Jacobs (which is a total fantasy, I do realize) I love it so much! :) It's feminine, but plays up the whole 'boyfriend watch" which I've seen a lot of lately, I just adore this watch. Then the bangles are pretty basic again, just chosen to match up hers.

Hope you enjoy!

Super Simple Nail Art

Once again, these pictures are awful! Within the next couple of weeks, I should have access to a better camera, so please forgive me in the meantime. This was actually a requested topic from a friend, in case you're wondering why I chose to do this.

First off, start with two colours, I chose pink for colour one and purple for colour two. On your left hand paint all your fingers completely except for your pinky. Then paint your pinky finger the second colour and do the opposite on the other hand.
Now you're going to leave your pinky fingers and thumbs one colour, so you want to make sure that you get those all nice and smooth.

On your first finger (closest to your thumb) use the opposite colour and paint the upper diagonal half of your nail. Then your middle finger, you only paint the top half (with the opposite colour). On your ring finger you paint the top diagonal half of your finger. To give you more of an idea of what this is meant to look like; your main colour should make a trapezoid if you put all three fingers together. The first image is the best example of this, but remember that my hands are pointed down.

A couple of things to remember, make sure that the first coat that you do dries completely before you continue on with the design aspect. You may want to choose two polishes that have the same consistency, one of mine was really thick while the other was super thin and it didn't really turn out the way that I wanted it to, it was also hard to remove after wards.
Hopefully you try this!

Lemon and Lime

This is another look that I created using my new MAC shadow "goldenrod", this is actually from a couple of weeks ago, but I felt I had a lot of yellow looks on here so I saved it until now. :) Start off by lining the top lash line with a black liquid liner. Then wet a stiff liner brush and use a dark forest green, I used MAC's eyeshadow in "humid". Then line the bottom three quarters of your eye ending right at the outer corner. Then either clean off the brush that you were just using or use another liner brush. Wet the brush again and line the remaining lower lash line with a yellow shadow, I used "goldenrod" (as mentioned above). Carry the colour upwards into the upper inner corner lash line, ending about a quarter of the way. Apply the yellow a little more into the lid so it's not just a liner. Then blend the two colours along the lower lash line where they meet. Using a neutral tone, blend out the yellow on the top lid. Complete the look with some black mascara and you're all set!

How to: Make your hair longer

For the majority of this year I've been trying to go my hair longer and I have picked up a few tricks a long the way! I must say that I have had huge success and I'm quite happy with the results.

Shampoo/Conditioner:
To begin you really need a shampoo that gets rid of dandruff. Now, this isn't assuming that you have dandruff (believe me I don't) but the ingredients in this shampoo will give rid of any bacteria build up that you have in your hair. Bacteria collects at your scalp but by removing it (with the shampoo) this allows your scalp to breathe and your hair to grow longer. I use Head & Shoulders in ocean lift scent just because I feel that it smells less medical. When you shampoo your hair, really massage your scalp because this will work in the shampoo and open up the cuticles of your hair. When conditioning, use warm water to apply and allow it set in for a while. Then rinse your hair with cold water allowing the moisture to sink in, this will make your hair a lot shinier.

Brush:
When your hair is wet use a wide-toothed comb to go through it as this is less harsh then any other type of comb. I got mine at the dollar store, they're super cheap and easy to find. When dry, use a bristle brush this is super soft on your hair and doesn't cause breakage. The worst brush to use on your hair is a metal one as it's common for you rip out hair that is healthy and cause breakage.

Other Care:

Definitely use a heat protector on your hair if you are blow drying, curling or straightening your hair. This product really makes a difference and also keeps fly aways down.
I have also heard that it's better to get your hair trimmed every six weeks but I don't actually follow that just because I am student and that's a difficult thing to work into a budget.

Hopefully this one works for you too!

Go Green!

These past couple of days have been the worst for my nails, so this review may not be totally accurate and I will probably have to revisit this polish with a follow up review.
The polishes I used were China Glaze's "Paper Chasing" and Rimmel's 60 second polish in "530 Camouflage". Now I had to use the Rimmel polish as a base because the China Glaze one actually stained my nails yellow the very first time that I had used it :(. On top of staining my nails it made them super weak, now I don't think that this is a trend for China Glaze because I have another bottle in a bright purple and I haven't had any issues with it.
The application of both was fairly easily, I found that CG's polish was a little too thin for my liking so it requires about 3 coats to achieve the look that I wanted. But it has a really nice finishing shine to it which I really liked. This polish took a long time to dry (not the base coat) so again I had a couple marks on it. The polish chipped a lot actually and I had to touch up my nails twice in the span of about three days :(. Again my nails were super bad, so I'm not too sure if it was just a problem with my actual nails or it was the polish. I really do like this look because I feel it's unexpected, I always get so many comments like "ooo green nails, that's daring!" ahaha so I do enjoy doing a colour that's unexpected and would definitely recommend trying a green. Rimmel's polish is awesome on its own but that deserves its own review so I won't include much about it in this one. As far as the China Glaze goes I really like the colour and the finish but I hate that it stains my nails and chips so easily, I'm going to give it a 6/10 just because this time I was really unimpressed with it but I'm a sucker for the finished coat, even if it only stays whole for a day.

Sorry for my super short nail :( it was an accident and I know that's super unappealing but hopefully you get the look of the finished polish!

Are you going to try green?

This picture was taken after 3 days of wear with a couple of touch ups in between.

Gold Glitter bomb

This is a really simple, fun look that I put together just cause I really missed my glitter. :) Start off by using a liquid liner along the upper lash line, what ever thickness is up to you. I lined my lower lash line with Bonnebell's eye definer in "smoky" along the waterline. Then I wet my brush and lined the lower lash line with MAC's eyeshadow in "goldmine". I continued with goldmine up on the outer half of my eyelid. Then using MAC's glitter pigment in "reflects gold" I covered my inner half of my eyelid, blending it slightly with goldmine. Then I completed the look with mascara (L'oreal's Voluminous in black). I really like this one, I used it for day time, it could easily be brought to a night time look by putting some dark brown in the crease.

A word of warning! The pigment glitter gets everywhere! It's super difficult to keep it contained, I try just putting a bit in the lid and tapping the excess off, but I still got glitter everywhere. Just be prepared that you may have gold sparkles all over your jeans and hands!

Hope you enjoy this one!

Nail Polish Review: Sally Hansen's "Hi-Definition Nail Colour"

As promised here is the second review on the other polish that I bought another with the Sally Hansen's Calypso Blue bottle. :)

This is Sally Hansen's "Hi-Definition Nail Colour" in "Three D". This picture was taken about three days after I painted them, sorry about my goblin hand! Hahaha I don't know where my wrist went!
At first I really didn't like this colour, I wasn't so keen on the orange, but I wanted to step out of my comfort zone and go for it. The application was not so great, it was really thin and it took about five coats to get the colour that I wanted. It took a long time to dry so I messed them up a bit in my impatience. :( After every coat I had to wait for it to dry to apply the next one, as you can imagine for five coats that took so long! After a couple days though, the colour really grew on me I started to like it a bit more. It came out with a pinkish tone to it, that you can't really see in the picture but it was really pretty. The tips of my nails also got a lot of wear out of them and started to chip really easily (arrgghh!) so that was annoying.
Overall I would give this nail polish 6.5/10, I think that I still have to get used to it so there may be another review for this nail polish the second time around!

What do you think?

Purple Shimmery Eyes

I finally took a break from experimenting with my yellow eyeshadow! :) This is a really simple look, truth be told I was in a huge rush this morning trying to get to an exam and doctors appointment, it was quite chaotic! I started with a semi-thick black eyeliner against the top lash line. On the inner quarter I used MAC pigment in "Quietly" as well as in the corner of my eye (towards the nose). In the middle I used a hot pink MAC's "Trophy Pink". On the last third I used another MAC pigment in "Pinked Mauve" which a colour almost right in between hot pink and purple. After all that I blended all three colours together with "Quietly" on the brush blending to just below the brow. On the bottom liner, I used a light brown eyeliner (Bonnebell's "Smoky"). I carried a bit of the pigment down the on the lower inner third of the lash line. Then I completed the look with mascara (L'oreal's Voluminous in Black). I really like this look, it's super easy and can be done in a rush!

I hope you enjoyed this one!

Cottage Country!

Product Information: Hat; topman.com, Sunglasses; amazon.com, Shirt; pacsun.com, Sunscreen; drugstore.com, Necklace; modcloth.com, Shorts; tillys.com, Bag; stylefile.com, Nail polish; americanapparel.net, Shoes; tobi.com.

For this look I tried to something a little less girly and a wee bit more rough, I figure the cottage isn't really a place where you can comfortably wear a frilly dress and romp about in the forest. I love this look, it reminds me of campfires, beaches, and Muskoka. One of my favourite pairings for Spring/Summer is long sleeves with shorts, I really like the imbalance of the silhouette. I chose the red striped shirt pairing with a dark wash jean so that it borders on the nautical theme without looking too cheesy. The slouchy hat I love so much, these are super easy to wear and very comfortable. Statement sunglasses I just can't live without, I can't wear sunglasses that are small, I think they look crazy lol most people would think the opposite. Sunscreen is always a must, I just put an SPF 15 up there because apparently there are some new discoveries that sunscreen may not be all too good for you, I think that 15 would be the safest route but definitely do your research and find out! The necklace adds some more flair to the otherwise bland shirt and adds some fancy factor to it. The shoes look so comfy! Love these, you could definitely get so much use out of these :). The overnight I really like, I'm a sucker for nike and this actually a gym bag that I have my eye out for that worked for this look. The nail polish was the best colours that matched that I could find on the site, I don't own any American Apparel polish but I do want to get some so that I can do a review on it! I have tried it and it seems okay, but on some reviews I have read they said that different colours apply differently so I'm going to have to try it for myself.

Are you heading out to the cottage soon?

Skin Care Routine

As promised, here is my daily routine for just basic skincare. :)
For a facial cleanser I use "Spectro Jel" I usually use the sensitive skin line. It retails for about fifteen bucks, which is pricey so I would suggest waiting for a sale, and it certainly lasts a really long time. This cleanser was recommended to me by a dermatologist, it's definitely the best one that I have ever used. A lot people don't like this one though because it doesn't lather and I have heard other people say that it smells medical? Haha it really works for me because I break out really easily and its mostly for treating acne. Then my next step is using the Spectro Jel cleansing pads, which is basically a toner. It works super well and it's reasonably priced being only about six bucks for a pack of 55. Then finally for a moisturizer I use Clinque's "Dramatically Different Lotion". This moisturizer is one that I will never change, I love it so much! It absorbs really well, moisturizes really well and isn't greasy.

Hope this was helpful! Do you have any skincare products that you can't live without?

May Favourites!

Sorry this one is a little late! For my May favourites, I have things that I wouldn't purchase on a monthly basis because they were gifts for my birthday! First I have my new watch, I got this at Nordstorm Rack while I was visiting in Texas and it was quite a steal at only $40! It's Betsey Johnson (one of my favourites) the thing you use to adjust the time is a little rose and the second hand is a heart. :) Super cute and awesome considering that my old watch just stopped.

This is a necklace that I got for my birthday from my Aunt, it has three charms on it one is a tree that says wisdom, another a cupcake that says celebrate and a dragonfly that says friendship. I love this necklace, I wear it practically everyday!

I purchased this nail polish way early in the month because I had wanted a lilac nail polish and originally had my heart set on "Do you lilac it?" by OPI, but the store was sold out and wasn't getting anymore in so I got Essie's "Lilacism" instead. I hadn't tried Essie before and I was slightly disappointed, I think it's meant to be a higher end polish but it came off really chalky and chipped quite often. I do like the colour, the quality to me just wasn't there.

This blush I had to search far and wide to get! This is MAC's blush ombre in "Ripe Peach", it was part of their Spring Forecast collection released in April (I believe). This blush had sold out in all the stores that were closest to me, so I got my mom to pick it up for me from the states. Definitely one of the best makeup purchases I've made to date, it's a really great colour plus you can always just use the orange half or the pink half or combine the two, you can get more than one colour out of this blush :). It was limited edition and I'm not sure if you can find it anymore, but any peach blush would get the same effect.

I also got a CHI flat iron for my birthday and I really love mine! I'm really happy with it, I feel like it's a little less damaging for my hair and it heats up super fast :). I have yet to master the curls with it though, that part is pretty tough.

What were your favourites from this month?
